At 6 PM last night I had the final walkthrough of my apartment at Connecticut and Nebraska, and dropped off the keys. So I say goodbye to my home of nearly nine months and begin again in Columbia Heights.
I guess it's time to change the banner on this blog, which is part of the facade of that apartment building. I'll think of something...
Sulgrave Manor?!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like the name of a place in an old horror movie or something.
It looks like it, too. It's actually a really cool building. I am hoping I will win the lottery one day so I can buy it and turn it into a huge bacchanalian party mansion.
ReplyDeleteWhy the Hell would you want to live there? Every night, I yearn for the gunshots of Columbia Heights just for a taste of freedom.
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not, it was cheaper at the time than much smaller and crappier apartments I looked at in and around Columbia Heights. Amen to rent control.
ReplyDeleteGood lord, I just looked at your blog. So you are a member of the family that owns that place? For what it's worth, Columbia Heights scares me a lot less than the basement of Sulgrave Manor. I did love my apartment, though I have to say the kitchen in my under-construction house (which essentially doesn't exist right now) is still better than my kitchen there.
ReplyDeleteIf you email me at landladybing@gmail.com, I'll reply with my story. Did you know Diane spent the night of 8/2/05-8/3/05 in jail on charges "abuse of a vulnerable adult?"
